Watch out 2025, here we come! Our entire team is excited about all that is in store for Napa Green and our members this year. In particular, that includes some stellar events, which are the focus of this newsletter.
In the enduring words of Matthew McConaughey, “Alright, alright, alright,” RISE is back y’all! It’s a challenge to make each RISE Climate & Wine Symposium better than the last, but we have a powerhouse lineup, and more speakers still to come. Check out the details below and on risegreen.org, get your NG member discount code, and get your tickets before Early Bird ends on March 15!
We have so many leaders in our community, and for the second time we’ll be recognizing our stand out champions via our RISE Leadership Awards. See the details to apply below – DEADLINE March 7.
Our first event of the year, which I hope will be Sold Out, is our second collaboration with Soil and Shadow’s Nikki Silvestri, focused on Connective Conflict & Fertile Feedback. I will own that I could use more guidance and structures to navigate conflict and give & receive challenging feedback. Nikki has a way of making this work comfortable, engaging, and eye-opening. I know a $300 ticket might feel steep but this would normally be $550 per person. And the value of improved interpersonal and management skills is high and sustained… More details below.
I just know that 2025, while not without challenges and hard work, is going to be a positive and impactful year. Can’t wait to see you, and support collective empowerment and action.
See you soon,
Anna Brittain
Executive Director
Many of our Napa Green members and participants in our 2022 and 2023 Symposiums have taken meaningful action in recent years. We are offering six RISE Leadership Awards that will be given out during the six days of the RISE Symposium.
One award may be given out for each of the Six Pillars of Sustainable Winegrowing Leadership:
We are focused on successes and measurable results achieved within the past 24 months. This award is open to any winery, vineyard, or industry operation. This can include supply chain, but the application cannot be for a single product or service.
Award: Those who win the award will be given the chance to give a 5-7 minute version of a “TED Talk,” focused on telling a skilled, engaging story, with selective use of photos and visuals that will enhance the audience experience.
Submission Deadline: March 7, 2025
Any/all RISE Leadership Awards will be announced by March 30, 2025
Yes, we’re a wee bit ambitious. We’re hosting and collaborating on three events BEFORE RISE!
FEBRUARY 27: Connective Conflict & Fertile Feedback
Beringer Vineyards, Fermentation Room St. Helena, CA
Having participated in a full-day workshop with Nikki, I can tell you it’s worth the time and financial investment. We’re posting a video a week on the event page with Nikki describing core elements of the training. Scroll down and take a look. You can also follow along on Instagram.
This Training is Right for You If:
MARCH 11: Weed Management Tools Field Day
Michel-Schlumberger Wine Estate, Healdsburg, CA
We’re collaborating with a good friend and former Napan on this workshop – Natalie Winkler.
See equipment and hear from Clemens, Pellenc, Fischer and vineyard managers about the opportunities and challenges for each type of weed management tool. There will be cultivators and undervine mowers to investigate. Spanish speakers are welcome and encouraged! Some presenters are fluent.
Check out the Napa Green Weed Management Toolkit here.
MARCH 20: 2024 Vintage Salon
Buena Vista Winery, Sonoma, CA
Building on the success of last year’s Vintage Salon, we’ve decided to make this an annual event.
Wine can’t be made to a formula. Each vintage is dependent on the whims of Mother Nature. Join us to hear an array of perspectives on the 2024 vintage, including thoughts on navigating and adapting to an ever-shifting climate.
Adam Huss, of the Beyond Organic Wine podcast, will moderate a conversation with Laura Barrett, Winemaker at Clif Family Winery (Napa), Michael Frey, Head of Operations & Regenerative Farmer at Mariah Vineyards (Mendocino), and Nicole Bacigalupi, General Manager at Bacigalupi Vineyards (Sonoma).
During the Salon you’ll get to sample 2024 and 2023 wines from the different regions.
April 29-May 1 & May 6-8
Charles Krug Carriage House, St Helena CA
If you haven’t yet joined us for RISE, and want to positively impact our climate & community, this is THE event to attend in 2025.
