DONATIONS

Napa Green is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and the leading sustainable winegrowing program providing comprehensive, systematic soil to bottle certification for Napa County growers and vintners. In 2021, Napa Green was the first sustainable winegrowing program globally to completely redevelop the Vineyard certification standards to focus on climate action, regenerative carbon farming, and social equity. Our members stand as leaders exemplifying that caring for nature and community elevates quality and experience for employees, customers and community, now and in the future.

Support CLIMATE ACTION

DONATIONS

Your support of Napa Green will help us focus on climate action, regenerative farming and social equity in the wine industry. Our goal is to assist growers in becoming carbon neutral within six years and carbon negative, or climate positive, within nine years.

In addition, your support will ensure we can maintain the rigor of our Napa Green Winery certification. Our 90+ winery members have each committed to more than 120 sustainability and stewardship standards to: Save energy and water and increase efficiency; Prevent waste through recycling, composting and environmentally preferable purchasing; Reduce GHG emissions and the winery’s carbon footprint; Care for employees and neighbors. Napa Green Certified Wineries represent 40% of all of the certified sustainable wineries in California.

One of the main resistances to phasing out glyphosate is increased labor and equipment costs. However, the costs of herbicides and fertilizers have risen dramatically, so increased labor demands can be offset by reduced supply chain purchases.

In addition, leaders like Grgich Hills Estate have shown that regenerative organic farming can be cost-effective. According to an analysis by Brotemarkle Davis & Co. LLP accounting firm, the average annual per acre cost of vineyard management in the Napa Valley is $14,800, with $3,800 in depreciation. At Grgich, they spend $11,000 per acre, with only $1,300 in depreciation due to the longer life of their vineyards.

Learn from regional leaders about the practical costs, benefits, and ROI of herbicide-free, organic, and regenerative vineyard management.

• Ivo Jeramaz, Grgich Hills
• Phil Coturri, Enterprise Vineyard Management & Winery Sixteen 600
