It’s hard to believe that another harvest is already upon us. We wanted to share some updates and opportunities before harvest is in full swing.
We wrapped up another successful Cheers to Climate Smart Wines! campaign. We had incredible engagement on social media, including collaboration with Visit Napa Valley on a trip giveaway post (thank you to Solage, Seavey, Rutherford Hill, and Charlie’s Restaurant for donating!). We did a total of seven “itinerary” reels throughout the month, and had over 85,000 views of Cheers reels, stories, and posts, with more than 3,500 interactions.
We also had four different formats of digital ads running on billboards throughout the Bay Area 24 hours a day throughout the month. The total “impressions,” or potential eyes on, totaled over two million. We plan to repeat the Cheers campaign annually so please let us know if you’d like to be involved next summer.
Certified Napa Green wineries can now offer their custom crush clients the ability to take a few more steps and be certified as well, opening up new communications and marketing opportunities. See below for details.
SAVE THE DATES! On November 18 & 19 we’re planning a two-part event on the foundations of regenerative farming and transitioning to regenerative viticulture. The half-day event on the 18th will include a two-hour workshop with Chuck Schembre of Understanding Ag, an expert panel discussion, and lunch. The next day will be a field visit to Bedrock to dig into the details of low- to no-till farming. We’ll post the full lineup on our Events page in September.
If you are a Napa Green Certified Climate-Smart Winery with custom crush clients those clients may now be eligible to attain and leverage the Napa Green Winery certification for their brand.
It is essential that any eligible custom crush clients put in the time to understand what it means to be a Napa Green Winery, commit to meet the standards they have control over, and ensure continuing improvement. It is the choice of certified Napa Green Winery members to offer this opportunity to their clients.
Interested clients will need to have an orientation with one of our team leaders, then complete the standards for which they have operational control, and be third-party audited for those elements of the standards. Applicable standards typically include: Social Justice, Diversity & Inclusion; Supply Chain & Waste Prevention; Climate Action – Packaging & Distribution; Leadership & Sustainability Engagement.
See the step-by-step custom crush certification roadmap. Please reach out to winery@napagreen.org if you’d like to learn more.
The recording of our June 2025 Napa Green Ambassador Training is now posted online. For the first time, we are offering those who attend the training, either in person or online, the chance to complete an evaluation and receive a Napa Green Ambassador certificate, as well as a logo that can be used in your signature and on social media platforms. You can add the recognition to your resume/CV!
We will continue to offer in-person Ambassador trainings annually, so if you’d rather connect in-person stay tuned in the new year. If you’d like to received your Napa Green Ambassador certificate now, please review the recording and submit the Google Form evaluation.
The sales of sustainability-marketed products are growing 2.3x faster than conventional counterparts (NYU Stern Center Sustainable Market Share Index). However, while over 66% of consumers say they will pay more for an environmentally sustainable product, nearly 80% say they don’t know how to identify these companies and products (2023 Business of Sustainability Index).
Consumers need quick queues. That’s where logos come in. A logo on the label and/or other packaging helps consumers quickly identify brands that care about more than just the bottom line, doing well by doing good.
New Soil to Bottle logo! There are now three options for logos on the label – Napa Green Certified Regenerative Vineyard, Napa Green Certified Climate-Smart Winery, and Napa Green Certified Climate-Smart Soil to Bottle. Members who are comprehensively certified may qualify to use the third all-in-one logo.
If interested, please review our Logo Use Guidelines. Also, please note that a new application has to be submitted for each vintage.
We are immensely grateful to champion member Spottswoode Estate, as well as Opus One Winemaker Michael Silacci, for each partnering with Christie’s and donating two phenomenal auction lots whose sales will benefit Napa Green.
Christie’s unveils our September 2025 Los Angeles wine auction, a 500+ lot voyage through the world’s most coveted cellars, curated for collectors who embrace both pedigree and provenance. Headlining the auction are two exceptional winery-direct offerings donated to benefit Napa Green: an unprecedented 40-vintage vertical of Spottswoode’s legendary Cabernet Sauvignon (extending from the inaugural 1982 vintage to 2021) and a 19-magnum vertical of Opus One (2001–2019) — each shipped directly from the estates’ libraries and offered here with 100% of hammer proceeds supporting Napa Valley’s leading sustainability and climate action organisation. Napa Green administers the first vineyard and winery certification programme to centre regenerative farming, responsible carbon management and social equity, setting the highest bar for sustainability in American viticulture.
The funds raised will provide a critical infusion to maintain our current operations, as we lost a significant federal grant this April. Huge thanks to the Novak family at Spottswoode, and Michael Silacci at Opus One. It really does take a village.
Bidding opens Thursday, 4 September and closes Thursday, 18 September.
Napa Green is grateful to our sponsors, who help fund our expanding operations and programs. If you are interested in becoming a Napa Green Sponsor please reach out to Napa Green Executive Director, Anna Brittain.
