DRIVE LESS, TASTE MORE

ST. SUPÉRY • ALPHA OMEGA • CLIF FAMILY

Want to keep the driving to a minimum? Here is a fantastic lineup of wineries all within a few miles of each another. Please be sure to make advanced reservations.

St. Supéry driveway

Begin the day at St. Supéry Estate Vineyards & Winery. Try the refreshing but rich Dollarhide Estate Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc and enjoy a tasting at the bar or on the patio. If you’re interested in a food and wine pairing consider booking a Veggies + Vino tasting, with small bites from the sustainably farmed Culinary Garden. St. Supéry is a certified Napa Green Winery, focused on improving energy efficiency and generating renewable energy from a rooftop solar array. St. Supéry also has more than 1500 acres certified Napa Green Land, which includes a focus on preserving habitat for owls, bees, foxes and even a bald eagle family.

Alpha Omega Fountain

Continue up Highway 29 to Alpha Omega. Relax on the terrace and enjoy the fountain, vineyard and mountain views while sampling Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, among other wines. Alpha Omega recently flipped the switch on a groundbreaking microgrid energy system, combining solar power generation, energy storage and demand management. You may notice that the shaded parking structures sport the solar arrays, providing dual functionality. While you enjoy this stunning estate, you can charge your Tesla or other electric vehicle. Alpha Omega has comprehensive certification in both the Napa Green Land and Napa Green Winery programs.

Clif Family Small

A few of our favorite parts of the Clif Family Winery experience: They are serious champions of cycling and will help organize Napa Valley cycling tours; they have a lovely back patio where it’s easy to sit back and relax for an hour or so; and they have a farm-to-table food truck, Bruschetteria, where you can grab some delicious, locally-sourced dishes to pair with your wines. Oh, yes, the wines. Personally, we love their Viognier and Zinfandel but they have a great lineup of wines sure to please every palette from their certified organic and Napa Green Land vineyard estates. They also have Solar Grown Honey – underneath their solar arrays flowering landscapes provide habitat for pollinators. Clif Family Winery won the 2020 California Sustainable Winegrowing Green Medal award for their particular dedication to Community. In addition to great benefits, Clif Family offers a $75 wellness stipend per month, and reimburses $100 per year in National Parks passes and athletic competitions. Through their Sip and Support program, they give back 20% of all proceeds to local NGOs.

Please note: In order to protect the health and safety of all guests as we continue to be vigilant about the spread of COVID-19 all wineries will be reservation-only for the time being. It is essential to make appointments in advance and also review each winery’s posted policies and procedures before you arrive. Don’t forget your classiest wine tasting masks for entering and exiting the winery.

One of the main resistances to phasing out glyphosate is increased labor and equipment costs. However, the costs of herbicides and fertilizers have risen dramatically, so increased labor demands can be offset by reduced supply chain purchases.

In addition, leaders like Grgich Hills Estate have shown that regenerative organic farming can be cost-effective. According to an analysis by Brotemarkle Davis & Co. LLP accounting firm, the average annual per acre cost of vineyard management in the Napa Valley is $14,800, with $3,800 in depreciation. At Grgich, they spend $11,000 per acre, with only $1,300 in depreciation due to the longer life of their vineyards.

Learn from regional leaders about the practical costs, benefits, and ROI of herbicide-free, organic, and regenerative vineyard management.
