Napa Green serves as a catalyst and facilitator to grow certified sustainable, responsible businesses committed to the environmental stewardship and climate action in Napa County. Our members stand as leaders exemplifying that sustainability and caring for nature elevates quality and experience for employees, customers and community, now and in the future.

WHAT IS NAPA GREEN LAND?

Napa Green Land is currently an umbrella program that recognizes growers with validated environmental compliance and verified Farm Plans as meeting our standards for watershed stewardship. These vineyard owners and managers develop custom, whole-property Farm Plans to:
  • Prevent erosion and sediment runoff
  • Reduce and eliminate potentially harmful inputs
  • Conserve water resources through efficient irrigation and frost protection
  • Protect and restore riparian habitat
  • Contribute to a healthy and thriving Napa River watershed

WHAT IS NAPA GREEN WINERY?

Napa Green is one of only four sustainable winegrowing programs nationwide offering the opportunity for comprehensive soil-to-bottle certification in both the vineyard and winery. 40% of all of the certified sustainable wineries in CA are in Napa County. These wineries implement more than 100 sustainability and stewardship standards to:
  • Save energy and water and increase efficiency
  • Prevent waste through recycling, composting and environmentally preferable purchasing
  • Reduce GHG emissions and the winery’s carbon footprint
  • Commit to social equity
  • The whole facility is certified from production to administration to hospitality

NAPA GREEN LAND IS EVOLVING INTO A NEXT LEVEL CERTIFICATION FOCUSED ON CLIMATE ACTION, REGENERATIVE FARMING AND SOCIAL JUSTICE.

Napa Green Land will continue to recognize growers with Farm Plans and validated environmental compliance from the Regional Water Board through 2021.

Growers that opt in to the next level Napa Green Land certification will have an additional 1-2 growing seasons to implement the new standards.

Reach out to Anna Brittain to learn more about how this will affect your vineyard.

Silenus Winery Takes Farming to the Next Level

April is a time of growth – when plants move from dormancy to bloom and the Napa Valley’s landscapes are lush and green, with the rivers and streams full from early spring rains. During April, we also celebrate Down to Earth month, making it a great time to think about soil health and how to manage property using “Carbon Farming.”
