Howell Mountain and Rutherford

GREEN & GOLD

CAKEBREAD CELLARS • CADE ESTATE WINERY •  Viader Vineyards & Winery

This tour begins in the heart of the Napa Valley where you can try wines from the famous Rutherford Bench. Then you’ll make your way up Howell Mountain, part of the Vaca Range that lines the eastern side of the Napa Valley. Please be sure to make advanced reservations.

Cakebread Cellars Pic

The first stop is Cakebread Cellars, where you can try some of their renowned Chardonnay. They offer a range of tastings, including a wine and food pairing. Cakebread has an active employee Green Team. When they had to pull out an old vineyard block, they became one of the first wineries to start making biochar. Turning old vines into biochar eliminates greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused by the traditional method of burning vineyard waste and creates a nutrient-rich organic material that sequesters or stores carbon and can be applied in the vineyards to enhance the health of the soil. Cakebread is certified both Napa Green Land and Napa Green Winery.

Cade Estate

Next head up the hillside to CADE Estate Winery, where you can try high-elevation Cabernet Sauvignon paired with stunning panoramic valley views. The motto at CADE is Think Green, Drink Green and the philosophy is to make luxury wine in harmony with the environment. CADE is a Napa Green Certified Winery, the winery building is certified LEED-Gold and the estate vineyards are certified organic. While visiting this striking, modern estate you may see the solar array producing renewable energy, but you won’t see the recycled blue jeans used to help insulate the building.

Viader

Finally, if  you are seeking one of the most astounding views of Napa Valley, look no further than Viader Vineyards and Winery where you can taste curated selection of their current offerings. This winery is exemplary in their fire prevention and reimagining the area with the long-term goal of safety, beauty and climate action.

Please note: In order to protect the health and safety of all guests as we continue to be vigilant about the spread of COVID-19 all wineries will be reservation-only for the time being. It is essential to make appointments in advance and also review each winery’s posted policies and procedures before you arrive. Don’t forget your classiest wine tasting masks for entering and exiting the winery.
