NAPA GREEN NEWS

Hello Napa Green Community,

I hope everyone is feeling more even keel at the start of this week than we were in the wake of the shocking news on Silicon Valley Bank last week. As we’ve watched this unfold, we’ve been thinking about our members who are navigating this difficult situation. We were set to begin sending out invoices for our annual Winery and Vineyard Licensing Fees last week but we put that on pause. We will be sending out invoices this week and next, but we want to invite any members who may need more time to please reach out.

It is hard to believe that we are only 15 days away from the launch of the 2023 RISE Climate & Wine Symposium, with the inimitable Jancis Robinson, MW. We have 60 leading speakers and 40 “Sustainable Services & Solutions” sponsors, including all of our Marquee keynote speakers: April 5 Jancis Robinson, MW, JancisRobinson.com | April 6 Paul Muller, Full Belly Farm | April 12 Jason Haas, Tablas Creek Vineyard | April 13 Mimi Casteel, Hope Well Wine | April 19 Maryam Ahmed, Diversity in Wine Leadership Forum | April 20 Michael Silacci, Opus One Winery in conversation with myself.

Watch our video below sharing what you can look forward to during this action-oriented six-event series:

We also have sustainability spotlight videos from our RISE Exclusive Event Sponsors: MCELallemand Plant Care, H&A Barrel ManagementNapa Valley Vintners, and Coming Soon International Wineries for Climate Action. See you at RISE! Anna Brittain Executive Director
RISE---high-res (1)

The complete lineup of speakers and content is available on RISEGreen.org. Lunch & wine are included in every event ticket. Napa Green members, please reach out if you need your 15% discount code. We are securing CECs for the April 13 Soil Health event.

RISE goes beyond education and inspiration to provide the mentors, resources, tools, and services to start making positive change. If not here, where? If not now, when?

MARCH 23 – FOREST MANAGEMENT FOR HEALTH & RESILIENCE WORKSHOP

Seavey Vineyard | 9-11:30 am | Bring your hiking shoes!

Join us for a morning workshop at Seavey Vineyard seeing firsthand their approach to proactive forest management and stewardship of the oak woodlands adjacent to their winery and vineyards. This workshop will include a hike to see their fuel reduction work, juxtaposed with lop & scatter and unmanaged land, how they’ve processed the wood waste to create biochar, continued maintenance with grazing animals, and hear about the support they have received from the Resource Conservation District (RCD) and UCCE. The Napa RCD Forestry team will share their programs and resources. Eric Carlson with the Clean Burn Company will be there to share their services for forest fuel management and fire recovery utilizing climate-smart AirBurners (BurnBoss will be onsite). Come get inspired and empowered to increase the health and resiliency of private forested lands in Napa County. REGISTER HERE

If you can’t join us on March 23 don’t miss the April 6 RISE Living Room Salon on the “Inextricable Links Between Forest Health, Water, Fire & Climate.”
